How much social you are depends on – 1)How much active you are on social media… 2) How many friends/contacts (virtual) you have… 3) How many Likes you get when you update your profile photo…. 4) if you lack in all these in spite of having Excellence in Actual Life, your Face Value in the society of social media is zero.
Facebook is one of the social media which is used by comparatively senior age group. Still, all are stuck at Glorifying themselves in FaceValue rather than sharing useful information, posts etc. Does it mean that anybody who doesn’t keep profile photo does not have Excellence in
Life? It’s high time now that we should see beyond Face Value. It means we should see the Content.
Let us see through this heart touching story.
An old teacher was being interviewed by a young professional. The professional started interviewing the teacher he said “Sir, in your last lecture you told us abt “Contact “& “Connection “.It is really confusing. Can you explain?”The old teacher smiled & asked, ” Who are there at home?”He: Mother had expired, Father is there,3 brothers & 1 sister’.All married.” Teacher: Do you talk to your father? When did you talk to him last?”He( annoyed): Maybe one month ago .” Teacher: Do your brother & sister meet often? When did you meet last at a family gathering? “Sweat appeared on the face of the young professional. With a sigh he said: We met last Eid 2 yrs ago.” Teacher: How many days do you all stay together?” He:” Three” Teacher: How much time do you spend with your Father, sitting right beside him?” He: Silent.Teacher: ” Did you have breakfast, lunch/ dinner together? Did you ask how his days are passing after your mother’s death?” Drops of tears started to flow from the eyes of the young professional. The old teacher held his hand & said,” Don’t be embarrassed, upset or sad.I am sorry if I have hurt you unknowingly but this basically the answer to your question. You have ‘Contact ‘ with your father but you don’t have a ‘Connection’ with him. You are not connected to him. Connection is between heart and heart ….Sitting together, sharing meals, caring for each other, having eye contact, touching, shaking hands, and spending some time together…All your brothers & sisters have “Contact “but no “Connection “ with each other” Young professional wipes his eyes & said” Thanks Sir for teaching me an unforgettable lesson.”
So Let us not maintain just “ Contacts” but let us remain “Connected “with all dear ones.
